Greater burdock

Burdock is particularly rich in inulin, essential oils, mucilages, tannins, triterpenes, and also contains polysaccharides, proteins, palmitic and steral acids, ascorbic acid, calcium, potassium and magnesium. It has diuretic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, detoxifying and fungicidal effects.

The root, which contains the most active ingredients, is mainly used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Burdock ointment or poultices are used for difficult-to-treat wounds and eczema. It helps in the fight against acne and other skin problems and prevents excessive production of sebum.

Burdock oil is suitable for massaging the scalp, as it promotes hair growth.

Did you know that…

You can find burdock mainly in ruminants or around roads, where it often grows as an extensive weed.
