Indian lotus
Lotus is a perennial tropical aquatic plant from the waterlily family. Floating leaves grow from the muddy bottom, followed by a stem with a bud that blooms at sunrise. Lotus seeds can germinate even after hundreds of years.
The special feature of the lotus is that it cannot be spoiled by liquid impurities - there are tiny crystals on the surface of the petals that help the flow of liquid substances from the flower. It has a similar effect on the skin – it has cleansing and soothing effects, and its wonderfully soft and floral scent will caress your senses. It is a natural antioxidant. The lotus contains vitamins A and B3, phosphorus and potassium.
Did you know that…
All parts of the lotus—the rhizome, leaves, seeds, and flowers—are edible.
