Zinc oxide
Zinc oxide is a white natural powder with anti-inflammatory and slightly antibacterial effects. It is non-toxic, does not irritate the skin and does not cause allergic reactions. It does not penetrate the skin, but creates a protective barrier on it that is resistant to moisture. It is therefore suitable for the prevention and treatment of bedsores.
Zinc ointments are well-known aids in the treatment of acne. Thanks to its antibacterial effects, zinc suppresses inflammation, dries up moist deposits, accelerates regeneration and suppresses the increased production of sebaceous glands. It prevents the formation of scabs and scars.
In sunscreen products, it acts as a physical UV filter for both UVA and UVB rays and reflects incident sunlight, thereby protecting the deeper layers of the skin from harmful effects on skin cells.
Did you know that…
Zinc is not soluble in water. It decomposes only at a temperature of around 2,000°C.
